Rock Climbing in Liberia

Liberia is the largest and busiest town in the Guanacaste province in Costa Rica. There are a couple of newly explored areas within just 10 min from town center.

Because of its drier climate, the area holds a lot of potential but is yet to be explored thoroughly. It also has a ver close proximity to volcanoes, therefore there is potential for really high quality rock.

How to get to Liberia:

Take the inter-American highway and it will take you there, impossible to miss.

Deep Water Soloing

Rio Colorado is the most impressive climbing area close to Liberia, and probably from Costa Rica! The Colorado river holds probably kilometers of steep and very high walls over deep water. There are currently more than 15 amazing DWS lines, some of them without a FA. To get on the lines, it is essential to have a floating device such as a Kayak, Tube, or paddle board.

There are also scattered boulders on the side of the river.

There is a second area in the Poza Los Coyotes, a stunning turquoise river that has deep waters and lots of rock on its sides. Make sure you arrive in the morning during weekdays, to avoid the high temperatures and huge crowds. You will be rewarded this place is amazing!
